Shnuggle Health & Baby Care,Bathing,Bathing Tubs & Seats Shnuggle Baby Bath with Bum Bump Support and Cosy Foam Back Rest Well thought out baby bath with soft, warm and ergonomic shape. With a proud grandmother looking to buy a few items for her first grandchild this baby bath was one of the items on the list and was gratefully received by the new parents. a normal sized bath is too much for a small baby, meaning that the parent has to be ever-watchful to ensure that the bay doesn’t slip or bang their delicate head against the bath, and that the water doesn’t get too cold either. This Shnuggle™ baby bath copes admirably with both of those issues. It’s just the right size to house a new born baby in a fairly upright position ensuring that the water covers them adequately. It has some nice features, such as a soft foam back which retains heat well, and featuring an ergonomic shape that not only is warm it will also grip onto the baby’s back reducing any chance of them slipping, something which is all too easy in a standard bath. The shape of the baby also means that baby’s head is controlled too – their head won’t flop around or need support from the parent meaning that both hands are free to wash baby, a very useful feature. All the surfaces remain warm and soft to the touch, with absolutely no sharp edges to catch, and with it’s compact size meaning the water will stay at a suitable temperature for longer. There’s what is styled as a ‘bum bump’ – basically the base of the bath isn’t flat, rather it features a natural curve which means that the baby is positioned in a relaxed, comfortable and reclined state, with their legs bent over the bump at the knees. That natural position is also training your baby to sit up when they are able to begin supporting themselves a little. There’s no chance that the baby will fall forward into the bath due to the well thought out shape and size, with just two litres of water necessary to give them a thorough bathing, a feature I like a lot when a baby is quite capable of requiring a good wash at both ends regularly and with many houses now operating on water meters. The base of the bath features non-slip rubber feet so whether this is situated on a carpet or in the household bath to save splashes this baby bath isn’t going anywhere until you want it to, a feature I like. It’s suitable for new born children through to around a year old, which I think is quite a good timespan for a quickly growing youngster. The form of this bath has obviously been given a lot of thought – functionality takes top billing here with baby supported on all sides and with everything soft, warm and comforting meaning that baby should hopefully enjoy the experience rather than becoming distressed. It’s a boon for parents with the shape meaning the bath takes control of the baby and they can relax and enjoy the bonding experience rather than having to be on constant guard. It’s small size means with plenty of other things taking over the household this won’t take up a whole lot of space and is easily stored, whilst the material means it’s easy to clean and empty too. A nice product..

S. Anderson Great bath for hands free bathing We had a standard plastic baby bath. First 12 weeks went well and our bub loved his baths. Come about 13 weeks, he starts kicking off in the bath. We spend about 2 weeks desperately trying to work out what has made him suddenly hate his bath and then we realised he wanted to sit up, but he wasn’t able to sit up on his own yet and it was horrifically awkward and back-breaking to lean over and hold him in a sitting position without him sliding about everywhere.Cue the Shnuggle bath- we bought one hoping it might help but resigned to probably having awful bath times for the foreseeable future. Oh my god. He was like a different baby! He sat, leaning backwards on the wee foam back and splashing and playing with his bath book. Bath time was fun again! He doesn’t slip or slide about (but you have to make sure you sit him in squarely or he’ll lean to the side) and he’s perfectly content in the water up to his belly. Bonus that you don’t need to hold him! For a newborn you might still want to hold them just to be sure but our 15 week old (big for his age at 17.5lbs) needs no hands-on support and you can just focus on playing and washing. I wish I’d bought it sooner as my back really hurt with the ordinary bath and constantly leaning over and holding him in place. The only down side is that I’m sure our LO will grow out of it well before the 12 month mark, but as I say, he’s a big baby in the 91st percentile. So if you have a more average baby then you’ll probably last up til 12 months.Oh and it only needs 2l of water so it’s much easier to fill and carry than a normal bath. It’s also a bit smaller so is a bit easier to store..

E Parry Perfectly good baby bath. I don’t usually review this kind of product but I thought I’d chip in as I’m slightly baffled by people saying it’s not suitable for newborns or very small babies. We got this when ours was around six weeks and had no problems with it, and now use it daily as part of the bedtime routine. It has a support bump in the centre which stops the baby from slipping forward, and a max fill indicator, both of which means it’s very safe to use. Ours is not quite three months and the water comes up to about the waist when sat in the bath. Even with small babies who can’t hold their heads up very well, they’re not going to dunk their heads in the water unless you fill it up well beyond the line.Perhaps for very tiny babies it wouldn’t be suitable, but they grow very quickly so for the sake of a few weeks at most it hardly seems like a major problem to find some other workaround in the mean time.We sit on the floor with ours and although we usually do the bath time together, it’s perfectly possible for one of us to do it by ourselves. Obviously you need to keep your eyes on the baby at all times, but this is true in any case whenever bathing a baby..

Jenny Best for 1-6 months This is a fab little bath. I bought this from mothercare but thought I’d add a review here.At first my little one was a bit small for it and she had to be supported a bit. It didn’t matter too much though as she wasn’t bathed much in the early weeks to protect her skin. From a month onwards though, this bath was perfect. She loved being sat up, and it supported her well. It’s great that you can put it on any hard surface as my back was shot after giving birth and my husband has had problems with his spine so crouching over the bath wasn’t a great idea for either of us.My little girl is now 6 months. The bath claims to be suitable up to 12 months but I’m a bit sceptical about that. My little girl’s bum is already too big for it and she sort of perches on the base instead, so isn’t as well supported. Not only that she loves to kick and splash, and I’ve noticed she’s starting to rub her feet on the sides causing them to get sore. It’s definitely worth it for the first few months though. I’d definitely use it again if I have another..
